Passwords to go...

What's easier than carrying around a USB flash drive with your password manager on it? How about carrying nothing at all, and accessing your passwords from any computer with a browser, anywhere?

You have to buy into the idea that you can safely store your passwords on a remote server, but when I understood that your passwords are always encrypted when they are sent over the wire, and stored in encrypted form on the server, I concluded this is a safe approach.

One could be concerned that network outages might prevent access to your passwords, but I have three responses:

  1. There is an offline program for use in this eventuality
  2. They give you the ability to print out all of your password entries, so you can keep a printed version in a safe place.
  3. Most of my passwords are for online use, so not having access to them when the network is down is not a significant limitation for me (although, I suppose, it could be that only the Passpack server is down.)
What do you think?

PassPack website down - it happens.

December 20th - PassPack website is down :S Perhaps it is still beta. Hopefully doesn't happens often.

Use offline application

They have an offline application that you can use whenever there are network outages, or when you're not connected to the internet. Darrell

Brilliant!

This is a fabulous guide. You did a great job. Thank you!

Great Job

Hi. I really enjoyed the tutorial. It was clear and gave extra information for those of us who may be doing things a little differently. Now I'm going to try to do it myself and feel confident that I can. THANKS!

Excellent tutorial although

Excellent tutorial although I wish you would have demonstrated the 1-click.

Getting microsoft training is the apogee of any security training programs, and being an mcp has a clear cut edge over mcdst.
